SERVING THOSE WHO SERVED US FIRST
St. Joseph's Veterans Home, a program of Catholic Charities' Samaritan House, serves up to 15 veterans in a group home environment specifically suited to meet formerly homeless vets needs.
Each veteran is responsible for maintaining their own quarters, taking care of assigned chores and participating in the cooking.
A key component of the program is education and training in a wide range of life skills. Veterans meet regulaly with their case managers while also working with VA staff in the areas of substance abuse, mental health and physiological health.
The intimate setting at St. Joe's enables staff to work with participants on an individual basis in specific areas of need.
Saint Joseph's Veterans Home has been a haven for many Denver homeless veterans. Unfortunately, the current facility has created a special need for residents. Wheelchair bound residents struggle to access the wheelchair unfriendly main floor and bathroom. After learning about the daily struggle of the Saint Joseph’s residents, University of Denver Daniels College of Business Executive MBA (EMBA) program members decided to set up a project to make the home more wheelchair accessible. The goal is to raise $50,000
to remodel the inefficient facilities and provide residents with highly needed accommodations. To contribute to the DU/EMBA effort for wheelchair accessibility, click on the purple DONATE button. Through this effort, EMBA program members hope to offer thanks for the sacrifice the veterans made for America by improving their quality of life at Saint Joseph's Veterans Home.
To donate by check, make payable to "Samaritan House" and indicate "St Joe's Home" in the memo line.
