Open Adoption
Communication between birth parents and the adoptive family and child is important. Finding the type of communication that is comfortable and appropriate for all the parties involved is also important.

Catholic Charities strives to find a balance of communication that everyone is comfortable with. This may include meeting the adoptive family prior to the birth and can range from yearly visits with the child for the first few years to simply writing and receiving periodic letters and pictures sent through Catholic Charities. Your counselor can talk with you more about the type of communication you would like and match you with a family who shares similar ideas.
